  2. My Dad has always been a Toyota guy, so it surprised me when he bought a Kia Optima a few years back. Apparently, he got a good deal on it. Well, turns out they had to replace the transmission within a year of him buying it. Since I used to follow his lead and have only bought Toyotas, I’m going to take this as a lesson and stick with that plan. I bought a 2015 Camry new, and have never had any problems with it. 90K miles and still drives like it did when I drove it off the lot. Shoulda stuck with Toyota, Dad!

  3. Had a 2020 telluride that would turn itself on between 2-3a. Kia could not figure out what was wrong with it and we made them buy the pos back. They also had a million mile warranty at the time of purchase. We tried to get the alarm fixed also as it would randomly turn on during driving. They couldn’t figure out that one either.

  4. As someone who works at a Kia dealer as an apprentice I’m honestly impressed by the number of weird recalls and engine problems I see.

  5. I had a 2015 Kia Soul that I used to deliver pizzas with in Wisconsin. After 50000 miles I had to put a qt of oil in in every 1500 miles . The transmission went out at 170000 so I traded it in for a Toyota because I trust Scotty .

  6. The 2023 Sportage also got a recall: “The potential problem is a loose alternator battery nut responsible for a solid connection between the battery wire harness terminal plate and the alternator terminal. If it comes loose, the degraded electrical connection can cause the Sportage to stall when the engine is running. At worst, electric surges can cause arcing that melts the wiring and insulators and starts a fire in the engine bay. There are 19,701 Sportages possibly affected, manufactured at Kia Georgia from January 12, 2022, through August 8, 2022.”

  7. It’s actually illegal for a insurance company to steer you to use their shops only ,you technically have the right to fix your vehicle at the shop you approve, just as long as it’s a legitimate legal licensed shop

  8. Just sold our 2002 Sportage with 358,000 miles. It had a lot of little problems through the years but nothing seriously mechanical.
3 clutches, 3 timing belts, and about 7 front brake changes, twice in the rear.
Hard to complain, paid $6k, sold for $1500 twenty years later.

  9. Hey Scotty, I have enjoyed your channel for years, I really appreciate your practical. down to earth view on things and you aren’t afraid to speak the truth. On several occasions I have gotten some insight on a repair before I just struck off without any idea of what to expect. Also, any tool you recommend has proven to be a good one (again you give honest opinions). I have a friend (Jeff Ford) that has a YouTube Channel that deals in how-to on classic cars, it is called Autorestomod. He has had the channel for several years and currently has about 96K subscribers. He is trying to get to 100K subscribers so he can get “the plaque” from YouTube. With all the subscribers you have, I was wondering if you would be willing to encourage your followers to help him out with this? He takes a very practical approach, much like you, that the average working-class guy can relate to. Any help you could lend in this area would really be appreciated. Thanks again for what you do, and please keep it up!

  10. my mom has a 2016 sorento and its literally in the shop right now for this exact problem and it already happened a little over 2 years ago😅
