The RAV4 Prime is one of the hardest SUVs to track down from Toyota. On the outside you will find a revised front fascia, LED lighting, wheels, and 2-tone paint. On the inside there is an 8in infotainment system, 7in digital gauge display and heated/ventilated seats. Under the hood is a 2.5L engine paired with electric motors to produce 302HP and mated to a CVT. Is the 2022 Toyota RAV4 Prime a better SUV than a Subaru Solterra?

  1. I really like this RAV4 Prime, Joe. The main reason, aside from its reliability, is the fact that it is not a full EV. The overall evolution of the RAV4 especially in the last 5 years or so has continually impressed me. Nothing against the Subaru by the way. Thanks, again.

  2. Love the color combo and ofc that Toyota reliability… and yes I would take this over an EV any day of the week joe

  3. Here in California, there is about a 6 – 12 month waitlist for the RAV4 Prime, and it is much more expensive. Toyota is taking advantage of the electric boom. The regular RAV4 Hybrid is a way better deal, more than 10k cheaper. People really want this car, but Toyota is not making that many of these, probably due to battery sourcing limitations.

Some people keep predicting doom for Toyota, but this is their #1 vehicle, and to the loyal consumers who have had such good experience with Toyota vehicles, reports for their impending death are greatly exaggerated.

  4. I’m usually not a fan of Toyota styling, but this one looks pretty good! The problem as others have pointed out is trying to locate one and if you do find one it is usually marked up by the “stealership” as much as $25K making it a $76K vehicle which it isn’t!

  5. Gotta admit, with how much I like the prime, it seemed like there were a lot of small disappointments that seemed to add up. Im hoping the refresh for either 2023 or 2024 is able to upgrade the interior to match its price. The performance and range is still phenomenal above everything else though

  6. I love my 2022 Rav4 Prime and I would pick it over the Subaru Solterra without blinking an eye. However, there are three things that the Subaru does better over the Prime:
    1) Subaru’s fabulous mechanical AWD system
    2) Sharper exterior looks
    3) More upscale looking exterior

  7. I sure would like to see a review of how well the lane keep assist and the adaptive cruise control works.

  8. Love the design of this rav4 the one think that sucks is they r way over priced and difficult to find
